Silvicultural activity is carried out in following directions:

-forest exploitation (product of cabins of leaving)

- reforestation and afforestation

- Protection of wood from fires, illegal fellings and others лесонарушений

- Protection of woods against illnesses and wreckers

- Conducting the hunting economy

Timber enterprise woods are distributed on 1 and 2 group. Woods of 1 group occupy the space of 43,8 thousand in hectare. Also carry out sanitary-and-hygienic and protective functions. Woods of 2 groups occupy the space of 62,7 thousand in hectare. Also are the basic source of satisfaction of needs of a national economy and the population in wood, carrying out simultaneously protective functions. The lesopokrytaja area of timber enterprise is equal to 92,8 thousand in hectare. On age groups the area of wood fund is distributed as follows: young growths - 22,1 thousand in hectare (23,9 %), middle-aged - 50,5 thousand in hectare. (54,7 %), ripening - 16,3 thousand in hectare (17,7 %), ripe and overmature - 3,5 thousand in hectare (3,8 %)

Efficiency of plantings or average quality of locality timber enterprise makes 1,6 and above an average (2.0) on republic on 0,4. Highly productive woods (1-2 quality of localities) occupy the space of 90,1 % of the earths covered with wood, middleproduction (3 class bonitet) - 6,4 % and lawproduction only 3,5 %. The general stock of plantings is equal to 16188,2 thousand in cubic m. an average stock on 1га - 182 cubic meters, average change on 1 hectare - 3,7 cubic m., middle age of plantings - 48 years. The basic taxation indicators on Smorgonsky timber enterprise are more preferable in comparison with average indexes on Belarus.

The main objective of conducting a forestry of timber enterprise consists in the organization continuous and sustainable forest management for full satisfaction of requirements of a national economy and the population in a source of raw materials of wood and its ecological utility taking into account preservation and strengthening of ecological functions of wood, preservation of a biodiversity of wood biogeocenoses. Taking into account it forthcoming decade reforestation by means of creation of wood cultures though will prevail, the area projected under creation of plantings of natural regeneration, as steadier against adverse factors of environment will be however essentially increased. In the conditions of timber enterprise, it will be reached by introduction of systems of not continuous cabins that will allow to provide natural formation of young generation of wood.
